STRATEGY BRIEF: YOUR "PARENTS FIRST" FIREWALL

First, The Context..

In Olympia, the radical majority treats your children like wards of the state. They pass mandates on curriculum, gender ideology, and "social-emotional learning" behind closed doors, then hand the bill to you.

The defeatist says, "State law is state law, there's nothing we can do."

The defeatist is wrong.

State law sets the floor, but your local School Board sets the ceiling.

Your School Board has the power to protect your children from the most radical elements of the Olympia agenda through Local Policy Autonomy.

They can choose which vendors to hire, which supplemental materials to allow, and how much transparency to give parents.

The establishment wants you to believe the School Board is just a rubber stamp for the state Superintendent. We are going to remind them that the School Board works for the parents who pay the property taxes.

WE ARE NOT WAITING FOR THE NEXT ELECTION TO PROTECT OUR KIDS.

OUR ASYMMETRIC STRATEGY IS TO HOLD CURRENT BOARDS ACCOUNTABLE TO THE PARENTS, NOT THE BUREAUCRACY.

HERE’S YOUR PLAYBOOK FOR TODAY

1. THE "CURRICULUM TRANSPARENCY" PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST

You don't need a lawyer to see what's being taught. Use your right to a Public Records Request (PRR).

Send a simple email to your District's Public Records Officer asking for:

"Any and all supplemental instructional materials used in [Grade Level] regarding [Topic] for the 2025-2026 school year."

If they stall, reply to this email. I’ll help you turn up the heat.

2. AUDIT THE "CONSULTANT" SPEND

Most radical agendas enter schools through third-party "consultants."

Go to your School District’s website and search for the "Accounts Payable" or "Monthly Voucher" reports. Look for payments to groups like the Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD) or out-of-state equity firms.

These are often the pipelines for the agendas you hate.

3. THE "OFF-BALLOT" TESTIMONY

Don't wait for a controversial vote to show up.

Go to the next meeting and speak during the public comment period. Use this 1-minute script:

"I am a taxpayer in this district. I expect this board to prioritize academic excellence over social engineering. I would like to know more about how this board works. I know you have to provide us with the budget and other mandated records, but will you commit tonight to making all supplemental curriculum available and easy to find for parental review online before it is taught?"

After the meeting, one or several board members will likely want to discuss your statement. Meet with them. Follow-up. Get their contact information and engage.

4. DIGITAL VANGUARD: THE "WA PARENT" TAG

Post this on your local community Facebook group:

"I am looking for other parents in [Your Town] who want to know more about what’s happening in our schools. We don't need Olympia's values in our classrooms. Who's with me?"

This smokes out the "quiet majority" in your zip code and builds our statewide network, cell by cell. You may be in a great school district, or a small but mighty voice in a district that has bought in fully on the OSPI agenda. The only way you’ll know is to engage with your district from a perspective of skeptical, and honest, curiosity.

5. MONITOR THE "EXECUTIVE SESSIONS"

Boards use Executive Sessions primarily to discuss legal issues or HR and personnel matters. They aren't necessarily secretly colluding in there.

However, here is the reality: a board that spends hours in executive sessions is a board carrying a lot of risk. It means lawsuits are flying, complaints are piling up, or personnel are clashing.

Track the frequency of these sessions. If your board is constantly retreating behind closed doors, there is turbulence in your district that the public isn't being told about.

YOUR COUNTER-NARRATIVE

As you work through these low-barrier actions, you may face pushback. Here are the most common things you’re likely to hear. And here is how you dismantle them:

The Spin: "We have to follow state mandates or we lose our funding."

The Reality: "Funding is tied to basic education requirements. The radical 'extras' are almost always optional or locally implemented. Don't let them use your tax dollars as a hostage to force an agenda on your kids."

The Spin: "Parents aren't educators; they should trust the professionals."

The Reality: "Educators are employees. Parents are the primary stakeholders. You don't work for the school; the school works for you."\
